Frankly, Continental's "meals" in coach are a bit of a joke. A bran muffin does not a breakfast make. You're better off buying a sandwich or salad in the airport and bringing it on the flight. It's not much better in First, breakfast usually consists of unripe fruit slices with an untoasted bagel and a sachet of Philadelphia cream cheese - classy! Even the first class lunch/dinner isn't much better. While the tomato basil soup was tasty the first time, I have had it so many times on Continental that it almost makes me nauseous when I see it now. The cheeseburger that follows usually looks (and tastes) like it was purchased from a local street vendor prior to the flight. Dessert often consists only of some Milano cookies (served in the wrapper). If you're lucky, you might get a slice of cheesecake, which is usually very good.
Personally, I now prefer flying on Southwest domestically. They run on time, have smiling and friendly crews and make no unkept promises as to food - something you can't say too often about Continental these days.
