Welcome to FT!

FWIW, when redeeming BA miles for AA travel, you are entitled to free, unlimited en route stopovers, even on a 25,000-mile domestic U.S. coach award. If you redeem AA miles for a domestic U.S. award, you no longer get any free stopovers.

This raises some interesting redemption possibilities: for 35,000 miles, for example, you could fly LAX-JFK (stopover), then JFK-the Caribbean, then back to JFK (or MIA) with or without a stopover, then back to LAX (stopover), and then -- perhaps six months later -- LAX-Hawaii. (You'd have to use another award or pay cash to then get back to LAX from Hawaii.)

And if you need to top up your BA miles, the current Chase/BA Visa offer is 100,000 bonus miles after $2,000 spend within three months (a $75 annual card fee applies).
