2. Can I hold an AA PNR (as a TA) and call AAdvantage to have them ticket it as award travel, given all the booking classes are explained in the sticky?
You have a lot to learn on award travel.
1) No. Different programs. You can work your itinerary to use 1 AA award and 1 BA award - but they have to come from their own programs. No loyalty program can be combined. You can use your BA miles to fly AA or vice versa - the only exception is the TATL flights - BA miles cannot be used to fly AA transatlantic and vice versa.
BA has its own OneWorld type award but it would cost your a lot more as using AA miles for the same thing, especially for premium cabins.
On BA site, under spending BA miles, it is the type of redemption with more than 2 partners involved. You will then see the award chart for distance traveled.
2) No.
Award travel depends on award seat availability which is NOT from the revenue seats (pay tickets).
Only on AA.Com or AAdvantage award booking desk can book the award seat when there is inventory.
