World is that AmEx is going to begin issuing credit cards through banks (like Visa/MC), probably only in Europe, at least for now.

It will be interesting to see how this affects the number of cards at each level, as well as the level of service provided. AmEx may choose to directly issue the top-tier cards, and let other banks issue cobranded lower tier cards, or something of the sort (my speculation).
