I took the Chiang Mai Cookery course a few years ago. had so much fun I did a few of them. It is nice as they take you to the markets and give a few lessons there about food choices and preparation. While most people get to cook in the city, they suggested i may try to countryside cooking course, which was an amazing setting (outside) in farming area.
It is definitely worth the money and time.
