AA points on British Airways - US to India???
HELP!!!!
I just purchased a Biz class ticket on BA from LAX to DEL with a connection through London, and then found out about the transatlantic restriction with American Airlines prior to booking. I was informed however that I will earn 1.25% AA miles on the London - Del leg of the trip. BA gives 150% if placed into their BA account.
Anyhow wondering the best way to maximize my miles on this trip. I AM NOT a BA member, and was planning to have them go into my American Airlines bucket. I am a frequent AA traveler, and dont plan to be on BA again anytime soon.
What do most people do in this situation, other than not get into it in the first place. Options I see?:?:
1) Get all the miles at 150% bonus into BA and keep them there for future travel on AA? (43,251 BA miles; not quite enough for an international flight)
2) Do 50/50 split with BA (LAX-Lon) American (Lon-Del) = 24484 BA miles; 15635 AA miles. Is this even possible since BA wont give me credit on the transatlatic portion? Then buy 516 BA points and use 25K later for a domestic flight here in the US on American/Oneworld sometime in the future?
3) Do a 50/50 split with any 2 of the BA partners (ie - Alaska & American). Funny enough, the Alaska website does not state any transatlantic restrictions. This will give me 20,408 Alaska Miles and 15635 AA miles. I dont have an Alaska account, but I suppose I could open one.
4) Have the miles go somewhere else that I am not aware of yet? Possible to have them go to a Starwood Acct?
Im just so upset that I will be losing out on 20408 AA miles. Been working hard to build up that account.
Any suggestions very much appreciated.
Thanks... Blasky
