I had the opposite experience on SQ11 last December from LAX-NRT. We had a 250 knot HEADWIND, and the trip took forever.

Fortunately I was in F, and the non-stop Dom made things tolerable.

The 747 was at a very steep angle as it slowly fought its way over the pacific.
