I'm resurrecting this thread to get some new input. First off, the computer listed in my OP served me very well for 2 1/2 years, and still works, but is going to be moved back to the role of backup computer.

I'm looking once again, and have some questions...

1. The Intel i7 core, is this worth getting? The computer I'm looking at with an i7 lists a speed of 1.6 Ghz, which is slower than I am running now. I could also get a similar priced machine with 2.53 Ghz, but with the older style core? (Forgive my layperson computer-speak).

2. Is DDR3 RAM much better than DDR2? How is it better?

3. Windows 7 OS...Is it better to spend the little extra to go for the Ultimate, or is that largely a waste? I can get the Ultimate for roughly $50 more than the base version with a newegg combo deal.

4. If I have more questions as I think of them, I'll list them.
