sjharte: I'm guessing you're a UK cardholder, and the advice from ahrz looks valid to me.

Also, in the UK, AmEx extend to charge card holders the protection to credit card holders under the Consumer Credit Act. Not much good to you in this case (transaction must exceed GBP 100) but may be interesting for other readers. This can be useful extra protection.

My wife and I have reservations on SR for December (paid for with AmEx) and are watching the situation with more than interest. SR will not let us cancel and make other arrangements without keeping our money. But they cannot/will not confirm the flights either.

We have the choice of being secure (rebooking) and losing our SR money, or waiting until the situation is resolved one way or the other.
