I forgot to notice at the time but if you are on QF30 I would keep an eye on the availability of 4 classes.
At the moment the QF30 (and 29 for the reverse) are only offered as 3 classes, even though they are configured for 4.
This means some biz class pax are seated in the First cabin (with biz service), and some Premium economy passengers get lucky with a biz class seat.
What this might mean for you is that even though you are flying economy you MAY be able to get a Premium economy seat.
I understand that the QF29/30 are scheduled to go back to 4 class operation next year - but just keep an eye out.
As soon as there is word it is going to stay 3 class I would try and get yourself one of the Premium economy seats (of course service and meals will be regular economy).
If it does go to three class you'll read about it here! Although if you have status on Qantas you'll be in a better position to get one of these seats - but no harm in asking.
