I agree with other posters. I never rely on hotel wake-up service other than to use it as a back-up. Especially with a very early (and critical) wake-up.

I consider a hotel's wake-up service as being a "nice convenience" type of thing rather than a mission-critical commitment by the hotel.

Probably it's best just to chalk it up to a lesson learned. Most veteran travelers have had a similar experience, which is why we don't depend on hotels to wake us up. (Though the hotel environment is very good at waking us up when we don't want it! LOL!)

Confession: I was a night clerk in a hotel for a short time a few decades ago, and a couple times I messed up on wake up calls to stewardesses. I'll never forget one stewardess running through the lobby, dragging her suitcase, her hair a complete mess, screaming at me as she ran by.
