I had an issue this summer at a FS Marriott with the a/c. I like it mid 60's, but it would never kick on. Talked to the service guy and it turned out that corporate wanted it where the thermostat would not kick on until there was a difference of 5 or greater than the set temp. The lowest you could set it was 65 so the coldest it ever got was 70. It was a remote wall unit so I just unscrewed it and left it in the bathroom after a hot shower. Not pretty, but it got the job done.
