I just called LH and tried to get seats on our flights AMS-FRA and FRA-BRU but they said on intra-euro flights we can't get them until we are at the airport. Is it open seating like Southwest or will we get good seats (exit row/E+ like seats) like on United?

Also do we get the 2 pieces of baggage up to 32 kg (Euro-North America C ticket) or 2 peice of baggage up to 23 kg as Y (since our first flight is Y class)? Star Gold says: plus 20 kg in all classes of travel on flights by Star Alliance partners plus one bag on flights by Star Alliance partners. Does that mean we get 3 bags each? And are those weights per piece of luggage or total?
