Also bear in mind that while charging for checked bags, (thus reducing the over number of checked bags) airlines are able to lay baggage handlers off and save money on their salaries, benefits, the benefits of their children, husbands, and wives. So they're really winning on both sides, aren't they, while laying off low to middle income wage earners during this depressed economy.
