Aeroplan Redemption AUS-YYC

Hi All,

I'm looking into trying to redeem a return air ticket from AUS-YYC using Aeroplan miles around Memorial Day (May 2010) next year.

While I see plenty of availability with Star Alliance partners Continental (through IAH)/US Airways (thorugh Phoenix) for the return leg YYC-AUS, I see nothing for the outbound leg AUS-YYC (and I checked dates May 21 onward).

What's interesting is that I no longer see codeshares with United operated flights, which used to be plentiful in the past (I've had no problems trying to redeem in the past, although I will admit it meant taking those 6am flights)

Has Air Canada suddenly stopped codesharing with United? Why are there no United flights (I could then route AUS-DEN-YYC, AUS-ORD-YYC or even AUS-SFO-YYC) available for redemption)? In the past I have used such routing. So much for AC being part of the "Star Alliance" I guess...

What's interesting is that AC has at least 2 non-stops daily from IAH-YYC yet there is no codesharing with Continental between AUS-IAH. This would be a very logical option.

Does anyone know if more Aeroplan flights will be "loaded" into the system? Experience has shown me never with flights between the US-Canada, bu tmaybe somebody knows something here.

Any feedback is appreciated.
