I know I gave a May 31 deadline. But the fact is that if they were going to respond at all, they probably would have done it by now. BTW, I did write to Ken Chenault once about a decade ago, and was pleased with the response from his office.
Will I close all of my Amex accounts? Not while I have almost 300k MR points sitting there, and not until my 50k DL bonus posts. But I could (and will) drop down to a Green Card or a Rewards Plus card on the personal side, and close my Corporate Card account.
BTW, since writing this letter, I have had additional (albeit entirely unrelated) problems with Amex. However, I'm waiting to see how these matters are resolved before writing any more letters.
I got a Centurion card as well and when my boss found i got one and he did not get one he got pissed and called amex threaten them via both phone and in writing that unless he got one too he would close his personal card cause he felt that it was an insult for his employ to get a Centurion card and not the owner of the company that i worked for. He received a nice letter in the mail stating that they are sorry they can not issue a card to him and if he choose to close all of his accounts with amex where should they send all the final statements too. At which time he back down. The letter went on to say that the Centurion card was offer to by the marketing department. So i would be careful on what you wish or how you deal with amex cause they seem willing to call peoples bluff. Btw my boss spends over 2 million a year on his personal platinum amex and still till this day can not get a Centurion card and i spend like 300-400K a year and i have one.
