May as well add - a package can be a flight + car or maybe just one nights hotel (which you could use instead of the points in the other hotel etc etc)
It all adds up. I did this myself when I stayed at the FS Hualalai - flight package with flight and car, unusually the car rates with the package were also bulk rates so overall saved a lot more on the combined package than I expected.
