I love jetBlue, it's a great choice for a traveler on a budget, but if you're based in OAK, why not just go for UA?

Yes, it's not perfect, but you'll get E+ and, soon, UDU's (what UA is calling their EUA's), so that you'll have at least the same shot at upgrades as on CO, and--as a sweet fallback--E+, which is the most spacious economy section going (along with jetBlue's EML, but that always requires a buy-up).
