Chris,
I completely agree. There are three factors that I think are rather essential for the Centurion card:
(1) At least one year membership. I know this is a minimum requirement. Or at least they told me that, and I am willing to believe them. Yo should need some history with Amex.
(2) Perfect payment history. Another requirment I can honor. Why should they extend premium products to risky customers. I no longer consider the Platinum card anywhere close to a premium product.
(3) The T & E expenditures. Why would you even want the Centurion product if you aren't actively involved in travel.
I am going to wait it out until the end of my one year of membership with perfect payment history, of course, and contact a supervisor.
I will have Gold elite on CO at the end of this month and will be CO Platinum Elite before the end of the year. So the biggest reason I want the card will be moot until Feb 2003.
But I want to feel like a valued customer from Amex and could greatly benefit from the Centurion card. I will pelad my case to the appropriate Amex reps (supervisors and maybe some almost exec levels) and see what they say. If I am shot down we will see how much Amex really values my business. Which I won't hold my breath over!
Thanks for the info. I really hope to get a number of responses so I can gather some data to see if I am not in the right league.
