My parents fly a lot and this year are very close to 1P on UA. They're off by about 4000 and 3000 miles. However, they're still not modifying their travel plans to get that last part. I think brp is right, at least for the people I know. And trust me, I've told them they could plan a trip (non-MR) to see my brother on the east coast. They just don't want to travel.
