Did CO promise Infinite Elites "top tier" for life?

In another thread, OnePassMan raises a very interesting question for Infinite OnePass elites: did CO promise us "top tier" status for life?

If so, the creation of Presidential Platinum Elite -- and the refusal to upgrade our status to this level -- would seem to be a breach of that promise.

Obviously, I can understand the business justification for excluding Infinite Elites ("what have you done for me lately"), but as OnePassMan says, a promise is a promise.

Does anyone have the documentation of what was promised to us all-those-years-ago? And I would appreciate the thoughts of other Infinite Elites about what, if anything, we should do about this development. Perhaps we can use this thread as a "clearinghouse" to exchange information. Thanks.
