I had thought that full Y fares allows stopovers along a flight path. I was wrong, I think.

I want a one-way LAX-SFO ticket that would allow me to stopover in either SBA or MRY. But it seems I can't (online) get a ticket to cooperate, as I am quoted two separate fares for the routing.
