gleff hit the nail on the head. We just completed our first award flight to Thailand after transfering amex points to AC. Points xfer instantly, AC allows stop overs so we could do most segments we wanted, etc. (8 segments in all on UA (domestic) and NH/TG all in J. Excellent service and flights on all)

If it weren't for FT I probably would have xfered too many miles to SIA or NH or TG or some other program and not gotten nearly as much bang for my points...

If you can be a little flexible, you should be able to get just about the flights you're looking for.
