OP: 1. Join NEXUS and eliminate the wait at US Customs. A bargain at $50 for 5 years.
2. Figure out how to travel with carry-on. Pack a roll-on that will fit and use a back-pack as a second piece. Works for me and I never have to wait for luggage.
3. Good luck - and if the connection doesn't work AC is responsible for getting you to your destination (a re-route possibility should include a code share or a nearby airport at your destination if you wish).

I love the NEXUS idea! Ten bucks a year is a bargain! The roll-on and backpack idea delights me too...but we're having to pack formal wear, so I'm certain we can't manage to use carry on for this trip.
You mention a "code share"... what does that mean, please?
