A few years back, LAN had radio (and TV?) ads running in Chile that made fun of the gringos who struggled to pronounce words like "piscola" (Pisco + Coca Cola) and LAN (reading it as the first part of land). But, like the other folks here I have heard the pronunciation both ways in the announcements, so I guess that is only for the Spanish-speaking audience...
