A relative of mine was recently informed by MBNA that the 20000 bonus miles would be credited to his account with the statement following that statement during which he reached the £250 spend, and that is what actually happened. Thus, even if you spend £250 immediately on receiving the card it seems you now need to wait until the second statement to get the bonus. I have no idea if this is something new or if it is true in all cases.
