If you try this site's "Search" engine in the American express forum you'll find numerous threads regarding both cards.
I do believe that Platinum exists in France, go to www.americanexpress.com
and click on the French flag, from there you can access the different card levels.
For a summary of Platinum and Centurion cards there is an excellent site (in German) called www.phibu.com
which links to many different articles from around the world. Good luck!
