I travel fairly often to Europe and find it aggravating not to be able to use the kiosks at the train stations, etc.
Is there any reason why smart cards are not available, as far as I know, in the USA? Is it a case of the peculiar brand of American insularity like refusing to adopt the metric system?
Any ideas on how I can get a card, even if it means prepaying?
