Nope, if AMEX doesn't get a helluva sweet deal for their platinum members, then it is sweet cancellation for me. Not worth the $399/year. CO and DL I find are very limited in their availability of seats at the 25,000 level. I don't like the idea of having to pay twice as many points (50,000) for being able to fly anytime you want. I am using Aerogold now for all my purchases (except for my recent Starwood free weekends reservations).

In regards to the number of cancellations of the Platinum cardholders, the spokesperson for AMEX recently said the number of cancellations were minimal - the spokesperson actually said something like that showed how much 'value' there was to the rest of the card benefits (what a joke). However, that was about a month after the Canadian cancellation. I think a lot of people were stuck wondering what they would do with the points. I have cleared all of my points with the tickets to Albuquerque and Savannah on CO and DL. I have 10,000 or so left, and am prepared to go to the Keg to spend the rest if they do not come up with anything before my renewal.
