Sadly, as a longtime Platinum Card holder and Amex stockholder, I too have witnessed the astounding decline in customer service- which has been even more precipitous then Ken Chenault's meteoric rise and ascention to the Amex throne!

Perhaps Black will do it for you, but not Platinum! Certainly not based on my experience. A recent thought is that I should have cancelled when my renewal had come up last year.
