I recently booked a package with Expedia including a flight and a night at a Marriott hotel. After booking I called Expedia to add my MR-number to the reservation, which they forwarded to the hotel that entered the number so the reservation shows up under "Upcoming reservations" on my account. With that also the confirmation number has changed from the one originally in my Expedia booking to a new one.

I know that reservations booked through Expedia usually do not allow for MR points, however since a few days my reservation shows "This stay will be credited to your Marriott Rewards account." at the bottom - just like any other stay I have. Does this mean that the hotel rebooked me and I will get points for this stay, or is this just normal for Expedia-Bookings when they show up on your account and the points will still not be credited?

Any first-hand experience would be appreciated!

P.S.: I booked the package because the price of flight&hotel was the same as the flight alone - so the hotel night is basically free...;-)!
