o2 Wireless (mentioned in #7 above) lets you call from the U.S. to many overseas numbers at the U.S. local rate of 14 cents a minute (advertised as free, but regular airtime rates apply) by dialing a special number then your called number. Simcards and top-up cards are available at Best Buys in the U.S. and at Airport Wireless shops at some airports or on their website.. Their website is: www.o2wirelessservice.com

We used them on our last trip to the States with no problems and good coverage, but you can't get the top-up cards anywhere but in the U.S., and you can't call FROM other countries back to the U.S. with their service.
