I lived in Egypt for 6 months and ended up spending barely any money on living expenses.

- $250/month got me a beachfront apartment including utilities, internet and satellite TV. (Before I got the apartment spent $3 a night on a hotel room.)

- $7 for lunch and dinner, but this was at a beach front restaurant and included usually 2 drinks. After a few weeks everyone saw me as a local and I got a 20% discount on top of that.

- $1 tax ride to anywhere in town, $2 for up to 20 minutes.

- $1.50 for a beer at a bar and $2 for a mixed drink.

The only real expense was the scuba diving I was learning to do, but quickly recouped that and my living expenses after I started working.

Egypt is super cheap on the Red Sea coast. Check out Dahab. Great weather, great people and lots of beautiful tourist girls...
