I've had it happen several times, twice actually with renewal cards, and there was no problem w/ AMEX or MR.

The only note is with respect to any automatic charges you might have posted on your card, e.g., internet charges, phone cards, etc. If the service is delivered by a non-AMEX provider, you'll need to make sure that they get your new card number, otherwise the charges will be declined, and they get cranky about it.

Would love to hear the details of the fraud. Nothing like a good crime story.
