I'm doing the direct LAN flight from LAX-LIM and then onto CUZ. Great advice on trying to get the first few rows on the LIM-CUZ flight!

It is worth the trip. If you've already got your tickets to Lima, I found it was much cheaper to buy tickets to CUS from TACA rather than from LAN. LAN charges exorbitant rates for non-Peruvians for flights between LIM-CUZ.

My ticket started in BOG and was on Avianca stock, so I don't think I had to pay the "tourist" price. Tickets from BOG-CUZ were not that much more than tickets from BOG-LIM.
