Well, it backfired, because after a brief (and intense) conversation between FAs, they announced that they would re-run the safety video ... this time with the lights on.
That would be an interesting announcement to hear.. "Ladies and Gentlemen, we will be re-playing the safety video with the lights on so you can fully pay attention to this important safety announcement" Basically we thought you would pay more attention with the lights off, but obviously you don't pay attention anyway, so we will replay it again causing your flight to be delayed a few more minutes...
