My beef with Amex customer service is that my husband received three--not one, but three--letters from Amex stating that he has been pre-approved for a Delta SkyMiles card. No annual fee for a regular card and a $30 for a gold card.
Now, I thought pre-approved meant pre-approved, but last week he got a letter saying they couldn't verify his place of employment and would he please ask the person in charge to send a letter on company letterhead stating that he is an employee. He's the person in charge! And what do they mean they can't verify his employment? These are questions I asked them and they simply said if we wanted our Amex cards we should do what the letter says. I'm so mad at them for obviously not trying to find this info out and for trying to make it so hard to get a card that I'm not sure I want to go through with this. But the offer of 10,000 miles is attractive.
