Interesting you mention that, I hadn't thought about it - so I asked him to check. He has the 12 years and the nights limit for it, just not the points (not quite sure how that is). He has been downgraded to gold at the moment, but, I guess if he continues his current ~20/30 nights a year he'll get the extra points in enough time to get back to plat.
