But we should not complain that some places go beyond entitlement. What's next ? complaining about free minibar on award stays ?
Nobody is complaining about what's going beyond entitlement. Complaint is about how the hotel is trying to work around the T&Cs.
A minibar is, per my definition, in room snacks and beverages that are available for purchase. IC BKK wants a definition of "all drinks in the fridge", and that's pretty much a scam, imo. Then redwine should not be complimentary in any IC as it, under most circumstances, should not be in the fridge.
The argument that they're going beyond the usual minibar (by providing 0.2 l bottles) is ridiculous. I need the drinks for in room consumption and not to buy them; I am in a hotel room, not in a showroom of Bargain Booze or Lavinia. If they make 0.2 bottles avaiable for purchase like in a store they can also go on and put a price tag on lamps, desks, and duvets. It's just a sleezy way of working around the T&C.
Furthermore, I question whether anyone will actually buy a 0.2 l bottle of liquor in a hotel room, let alone needing such an amount of liquor. Why provide it in the first place?
I'm happy to buy drinks from the minibar in non-IC hotels, and I will do now since I've cancelled my stay there. I'm mad not because I would have to pay, but because it's an attempt to work around T&Cs and scare off the most loyal IC patrons.
