Does anybody have any negative experiences with Lagos baggage handlers to share? I'm visiting Nigeria next week for the second time and had a pretty annoying experience last time. Everything was fine on my inbound flight (LH DUB-FRA-LOS) but when i was leaving Lagos my security guard instructed me to lock my suitcase after it was searched and just before check in. I dont normally lock my luggage but this was my first time in West Africa so I figured he knew best. When I took my suitcase off the belt in Dublin it was obvious that my suitcase had been interfered with but unsuccessfully. Its a hard shell case with a built in lock and it looked as if they had tried to pry the suitcase open with a screwdriver or something, they didn't manage to get in but left my case unusable. LH paid 80% of the replacement cost but this was a massive inconvenience and took a lot of phone calls and emails. Anyway, I'm pretty sure it was just dodgy baggage handlers and not that something suspicious had been spotted in further screening after checking in. So has anyone had a similar problem. I don't mind travelling to Nigeria but I'm dreading picking my case up in Dublin airport for fear that it will be empty or damaged beyond repair!
