Absurdity is indeed relative...which is why I think the OP deserves to be a little condescending about a $317pp charge in a country where that amount of money can go a looooooong way.

If Mercedes wants you to buy the car, they'll give you a discount on the tires.

It's a busy period, but Thailand hasn't had the best travel year and with a 2-day cancellation window, Starwood might want to ensure they sell a room, as well.
