It's funny, but I just looked at my company emails and there it was, a new policy implemented by United as of TODAY, saying that FA's are to not let passengers take pictures within the cabin to ensure the privacy of our passengers and the security issues that could arise. So there you have it, it is United policy.
I don't make them up, but I do enforce our policies, and I see the reason behind it. I don't want to be in other people's photo's on planes either.
AD
and there you have it courtesy of big brother ua corporate reading f/t

.
but seriously.....
i think several factors come into play-
- is it mom/dad taking pictures of their kids on the flight?
- a couple asking another pax or an f/a if they wouldn't mind taking their picture?
- a shot of the ice flows (floes?) over the north atlantic?
- a shot of an unruly pax
- pictures of the flight deck door as AD points out
- etc
for me, i think it is common courtesy to ask one of the f/a's if it is ok to to take pictures while on board and with their answer, either snap away or leave it at that. but like my signature says.....
