TransAtlantic Seating Question - UA Ticket; CO Metal; US Gold Status

Hello,

In both January and February I have booked an economy roundtrip ticket from GVA - EWR on United Ticket Stock on their codeshare with Continental. I would like to make seat assignments at the front of the plane, or potentially in the emergency exit rows (though SeatGuru says the 767 - 400 emergency rows are not great).

I wish to credit the miles to my US Airways Gold account, and in addition to this status I have a BMI Gold card and Lufthansa Senator card which makes me *A Gold. As a US Air gold or *A Gold how can I get a seat towards the front of the plane? When I call Continental Airlines Switzerland they say I can only do it if I am a Continental Elitepass member. Is this correct?

Incidentally - anyone have any seat assignment recommendations for the 767 - 400 trans Atlantic? I prefer to be up front and in a window seat. On the February roundtrip I will have a traveling companion.

Best regards,
