Um, SAN is about 115 miles away from Pasadena, and LAS is about 220... and LAS isn't cheap to fly into around NYE because it's a popular weekend destination, plus weekend/holiday traffic can be a drag on the 15- you'd want to pack in extra time in your schedule or you might miss your flight on the drive back.

LAX, OTOH, would be reasonable, as would ONT, and the aforementioned BUR (best), LGB and SNA. Heck, even SBA is closer to Pasadena than SAN or LAS.
