And this will be challenged by the captain's "It's my plane and I say what you can and can't do" (followed with either getting kicked off if on the ground or being met by authorities upon landing). Not saying that this is right or wrong, but it is the reality.
I can't believe any pilot would put their job at risk to create this kind of problem. When the issue is addressed in the cold light of day, any pilot would have a problem explaining to a judge why they were justified in making such a demand of a passenger with a camera.
