Yes, you should be able to select an E+ seat flying with your VDB ticket. You just can't upgrade to F.

I don't know what the latest state of the UA systems is, but in the past you sometimes had to call to have existing itins updated after you cross into elite status. But no question about it: you are allowed to sit in E+ if there's a seat available.
