Also, I wouldn't necessarily jump on the idea that a 767 will automatically give you more room. In the old days when the airlines didn't "rightsize" airplanes for the seasons as much as they do today, I'm sure you would be correct. However, it seems that the airlines put the plane on the route to match the seats they can sell. So, you'll see the 767 when they think they'll actually be able to fill the plane >80%.
I think it also has the same width as the only 757 planes that had the 2-3 configuration but I could be wrong. Regardless of this though the 3-3 configuration is very cramped. On the 767s, I never said it 'automatically' gave you more room it just 'increases the odds' - that much is true as I have flown this route many many times and more often than not there have been a lot of empty seats on the 767s but almost none on the 757s (probably a reason they moved to the smaller planes). But regardless of any of this, the 767 is just a more comfortable plane to spend 8 hours on IMHO - but that is for the OP to decide...and I still think it would be much better to do a change in LHR though then a stop-over on the 757.
