UA does not have one-way awards, so, internally, all searches have to be made on a round-trip basis. The 'dummy' return segment is currently fixed at departure date + 2 days.
This is interesting to know. Would it work if the dummy return was set for +60 days in order to increase the likelihood of avoiding Y0? Alternatively, given that the user may be looking for a return flight as well, allow the user to pick the return date and display both segments?
