I've read the wonderful BA Upgrade thread, but there was something which wasn't included.

What if you have a friend who works at the check in desk? What are the chances that they can upgrade you without reason? Would they be able to do this relatively freely, or would it be some sort of major breach in their contract?

If it is possible to be upgraded by friends, what sort of upgrade could you expect? Economy > Premium Economy? I assume Economy > Club World is fairly unlikely, judging by what is said in the Upgrade thread about the huge cost of club/first seats.
