Air Traffic Control Delay (other fllights were ahead of schedule)
Nov 24 UA321 ATL-ORD
Scheduled departure 4:52PM
Actual departure 7:49PM
Inbound flight from ORD was diverted to Birmingham,AL due to air traffic control. Weather in ATL was cloudy, but no rain. Other UA flights from DEN and IAD were on time. I also checked other flights (Delta, AA etc.) No significant delay.
Question 1: I did not find any good reason why the flight had to be diverted. Even UA flight from DEN around that time arrived ahead of the schedule. Simply bad luck? Running out of gas?
Question 2: I do not trust the information UA gave the passengers. New departure time was changed to 530PM 603PM 630PM 700PM 715PM .. 730PM.. We were told "new departure time is 603PM" at 530PM (the aircraft was not even airborne and it was on the ground in AL). Why does UA provide unrealistic information?
